Alumni Judges for Upper School Science Fair
Six Mirman alumni came to campus in mid-March in a new role – they were judges for the Upper School Science Fair! Holding their judge’s clipboard, they strolled down the aisles (and memory lane), assessing projects, chatting with students and parents, and thoroughly enjoying the experience. The alums were delighted to tour the campus and exchange hugs and stories with some of the veteran faculty members. Our warmest thanks to Scott Barth (1993-1997), Josh Bauer (1987-1993), David Fribourg (1978-1982), Adit Shah (1992-1998), Reagan Smith (1992-2000), and David Ulick (1974-1984) for sharing their alumni wisdom and perspective with us. You can see some pictures of the alums in action in the Photo Gallery. The following student projects will compete at the LA County Science Fair in April: From Algae to Electricity:Powering Your Home with Green Energy (Erin Lee); Loop the Loop: the Physics of Vertical Loop Roller Coasters (Michael Swerdlow); Efficient Propeller Design (Nathan Lee); Solar Panel Efficiency (Nicole Cohen); What a Kick: How Does Follow-Through Affect the Distance a Ball Goes (Cameron Rider); Tipsy Daphnia: The Effect of Alcohol on Heart Rate (Daniella Khersonsky); Bacterial Growth on Bristles of Toothbrushes (Dustin Held); Protective Material in Helmets to Prevent Head Injury(Ben Kotzubei, Johnny Berman, Austin Veseliza); Light Bulb Efficiency (Ethan Flicker, Jadon Yariv); and Microbial Demise: Can It Be Achieved (Maisie Lynton, Alexandra Stern). Good luck, Mirman scientists!
